Leak Alert: Kelly Rowland – ‘Commander’ (Remix) ft. Nelly

31 May

Kelly & Nelly

Kelly Rowland has teamed up with her old ‘Dilemma’ buddy, Nelly on an RnB urban remix of ‘Commander’. Personally, I prefer the original version and think Kelly has finally found her niche with dance music – an area that Mrs. Carter is yet to takeover. Go girl!

Video: Chris Brown & Tyga – Deuces ft. Kevin McCall

24 May

Chris Brown and Tyga have release a video for their track ‘Deuces’ which also features rapper, Kevin MccCall. The black and white video directed by Colin Tilley is better than anything you’d expect for a track simply off a mixtape. It’s slick and minimalistic yet visually strong and emotive. Breezy and Tyga have undeniably raised the bar.

‘Deuces’ is available on the eagerly awaited ‘Fan of A Fan’ mixtape which the boys dropped earlier this month.

Rating: 7/10

P.s. I have to admit that ‘Deuces’ has grown on me. I guess my initial 5.5 rating was a little harsh. It’s definitely a 7/10 now!

Behind The Scenes: Ludacris “Sex Room” ft. Trey Songz

10 May

Ludacris has teamed up with Trey Songz to film the video for “Sex Room” which is Luda’s third release from his “Battle of The Sexes” album. Even though this is a collabo between both of my favourite males in the game, I can’t say it’s the best song i’ve heard but it’s ok. The video was shot at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and was directed by Chris Robinson. Check out the behind the scenes footage and watch this space for the full video.

Leak Alert: Chris Brown & Tyga – Deuces ft. Kevin McCall

10 May

Chris Brown & Tyga

I don’t often get too excited about releases but it’s safe to say that I’m waiting in anticipation for the pending mixtape “Fan of A Fan” from Breezy and Tyga. A new track “Deuces” featuring Kevin McCall has just been leaked. The track is much slower than “Holla At Me” and “G-Shit” and is more of a sexy time song however it will still make my playlist.

Rating: 5.5/10

Remy Ma Blasts Nicki Minaj From Jail

10 May

Remy Ma

Wow. I totally forgot about the former First Lady of Terror Squad, Remy Martin. Recently Street Heat caught up with her for an interview from jail where she is serving an 8 year sentence for shooting a woman outside a club in New York in 2007. Remy talks prison life, music, hubsand Papoose and beef with Nicki Minaj. All I can say is that this rap game would be so different right now if Remy was out, I think she would be a vaible contender against the Young Money barbie.

I have to say though tha watching this video I can’t help but think how Remy used to look, all dolled up and unbeweavable, prison is definitely not a good look!

Christina Aguilera And Nicki Minaj Team Up On New Track

10 May

Christina & Nicki Minaj

I know that the hip hop world is currently suffering from Young Money fever, but I would never have seen this collaboration coming. Christina Aguilera has teamed up with the Harajuku Barbie herself, Nicki Minaj to bring us “Woohoo”, a song all about the kitty-kat (no chocolate). Despite my surprise at this duet between the two uber-sexy females, their styles totally complement each other and I can see this doing well in the charts. But, I think it will take a bit more time for this track to grow on me, however a good video with a few hot guys will probably help change my mind!

‘Woohoo’ is produced by Polow Da Don and is featured on Christina’s forthcoming album, ‘Bionic’ which is due to drop on 8th June.

GMTV Gets Grimey: Aggro Santos Performs With Kimberley Wyatt

10 May

We’ve all been talking about the overwhelming success and the amount of mainstream coverage UK urban artists have been getting this year. But I still bet that some people nearly spat out their cornflakes in amazement when they saw rapper, Aggro Santos and ex-Pussy Cat Doll, Kimberley Wyatt performing their new single, “Candy” on GMTV earlier this week. I have to admit that I really like this electro-pop track and I can’t get the hook out of my head. Aggro has come a long way since the days of “Free Yard” and is now the first rapper to be signed to Gary Barlow’s Future Records label.

P.s. For all those grime fans out there, check out the hard Teddy (aka DJ Silencer) remix of “Candy” floating round the internet…

MTV: M.I.A Recruits Hype Williams For Next Video

10 May

After causing a storm recently with her controversial ‘Born Free’ video, British rapper, M.I.A has announced that ‘XXXO’ will be the first single from her forthcoming untitled album and she wants super director, Hype Williams on the project.

Speaking in an interview with Zane Lowe on Radio 1, she commented:

“I just feel like ‘XXXO’, it is what it is. It’s kinda [about] being disconnected in L.A. and not having cell phone service or just not being able to kinda leave there for 18 months.”

Not one to shy away from controversy, M.I.A also turned heads when she decided to announce the 29th June release date of her album, by flying a blimp over the stage during Jayz’s set at last month’s Coachella Music Festival. ‘XXXO’ will be available for download on 11th May from iTunes.
