19 Apr

If you were to ask me if I was a Giggs fan, I’d probably say ‘no,’ but when I really think about it I have taken great pleasure in bumping his last few tunes over and over on YouTube. lol. Anyways here’s his new video for “Look What The Cat Dragged In”.

Shout out to Grime Daily for the heads up.

Industry Takeover: The Lowdown

8 Mar
Jay & Ras Kwame

Jay interviews Ras Kwame for Takeover TV

This Saturday, the Rich Mix played host to the urban music extravaganza that was Industry Takeover. Organised by all of us down at Urban Development with the support of our partners who included Biggafish, Rising Tide, PRS and others we were able to put on a day filled with workshops, seminars and showcases for inspiring music industry professionals.

Clement Marfo, Jay & Hammer

Clement Marfo, Jay Diamond (Rinse FM) & Hammer

The day kicked off with the emerging stage set in the midst of the music market,  and was hosted by Ralph Hardy and Shemika and featured a number of talented up-and-coming acts throughout the day. Highlights from the emerging stage were Leanne Robinson who wowed the crowd with her strong vocals, Chockz the Rapper who threw down his bars with the usual Chocolatey Charisma and Hammer who performed his current release ‘Mic Check’ (out March 8th – yes that’s a plug!). However, my personal favourite (besides Hammer) was East London lyricist, English whose flow had me in a daze – he’s definitely one to watch.

Hammer – Mic Check Hygrade Dubstep Remix [Audio]

1 Mar

Hammer has released a free dubstep mix to Mic Check, which has been produced by Hygrade, in the run up to the official release of Mic Check on iTunes.

Mic Check was first featured on “Grime Daily as a soundtrack to their photo shoot back in September and again on their ‘Backstage at the MOBOs’  series in October and caused quite a stir with grime fans.  ‘Mic Check’ was initially created as a remix version to ‘Hurricane’, the second single from ‘Hurricane City’ E.P and was never intended for general release” but due to the overwhelming response Hammer decided to release it as his next single. Mic Check will be available on iTunes from 8th March.

Industry Hater’s Tweet-Beefin

27 Dec

As we all know (but if you don’t then give yourself a HARD slap on your wrist) Twitter has rightfully knocked Facebook off it’s social networking throne! In the past few months i’ve swapped boring FaceLOOK for its more interesting successor Twitter to conversate, joke and gossip with my more trendy, in-the-know friends and virtual friends.

But as any socialnetworker knows a little bit of controversy emerges from time to time. A while back, Twitter had ‘Grimebitch’, an unknown user who was bent on exposing the sordid shananigans and beef within the UK Grime scene but things osoon died down and grime MCs went back to dissing each other in the old-fashioned way until a few weeks ago, when a new ‘bitch’ came out of the twit-closet – Industry Hater.

To cut a long story short, Insdutry Hater has been going in on everyone you can think of in the UK music scene and has left no proverbial stone unturned! His victims have included Chipmunk, Bashy, Mz Bratt, JME, Skepta, Funky Dee,N-Dubz, Chantelle Fiddy, Grime Daily to name a few! In his short ‘reign’ on twitter he’s already got over 1,000 followers and often boasts that this is more than most artists (true!), rips into Donatella from Grime Daily on a daily basis for being a Grime sket along with Mz Bratt who allegedly FFT (f*cks for tracks)!

Industry Hater vs. Grime

Some of the rumours circulating around Twitsville reckon that he maybe an industry insider, Jamie Howard the comedian, Posty (Grime Daily) or a mysterious up-coming RnB artist named Matt! But supposedly the mystery is going to come to sudden end tomorrow, when he reveals his identity! hmmmmm i’m not convinved!
