M.I.A. Hits Back At The ‘Haters’

1 Jun

M.I.A.

M.I.A has a recorded a track named ‘Haters’ after she claimed she was misquoted in a New York Times Magazine article published this weekend. If you like M.I.A.’s experimental sound then you’ll probably like this. The quirky electronic track speaks out about racism, politics and journalists and samples ‘Hater’ by UK dubstep duo, Various.

MTV: M.I.A Recruits Hype Williams For Next Video

10 May

MIA

After causing a storm recently with her controversial ‘Born Free’ video, British rapper, M.I.A has announced that ‘XXXO’ will be the first single from her forthcoming untitled album and she wants super director, Hype Williams on the project.

Speaking in an interview with Zane Lowe on Radio 1, she commented:

“I just feel like ‘XXXO’, it is what it is. It’s kinda [about] being disconnected in L.A. and not having cell phone service or just not being able to kinda leave there for 18 months.”

Not one to shy away from controversy, M.I.A also turned heads when she decided to announce the 29th June release date of her album, by flying a blimp over the stage during Jayz’s set at last month’s Coachella Music Festival. ‘XXXO’ will be available for download on 11th May from iTunes.
